Progress Finally!!!

We have from two sources that our papers have been completed by the Embassy in Manila and are waiting for DHL to pick them up.  Until we have solid confirmation and a tracking number, I don't feel confident that this is really happening, but we are promised a tracking number shortly. 

If the package does leave Manila today, we could be on the Friday or Saturday flight out of here, depending how circuitous of a route our package makes before it arrives.  Otherwise, there is no Sunday flight, so we would leave Monday, or if things drag out, Wednesday next week (no Tuesday or Thursday flight either).  I'm trying not to get too excited yet about the exact departure date, but this is indeed progress.

Of all the amazing coincidences, I ran into the Ambassador after all of this happened.  I was at the Tide Table (the hotel restaurant) and recognized her from her picture.  She saw me holding a Marshallese baby and came over to me.  She said that this delay was not supposed to happen, that they were doing fact finding, and that they are all over our case.  Finally, someone who has the power to help is involved!  Hallelujah!

Please keep fingers crossed that our docs really do leave Manila today and that they they get on all the right flights to make their way here as quickly as possible! I could still make it home for Halloween if the stars line up!
