Once again Zach was an angel and slept until 6 am. He then had a bottle, came in bed with me, and eventually fell back asleep, letting me sleep some more too. When I finally got up, I felt good. I decided that today I would really focus on doing the right things for my stomach to be totally done with this bug. Plan: Eat three meals, eat mild food, don't finish the plate if I feel at all full, don't eat so little that I am starving between meals (that was my mistake yesterday which is what I think set me back), and drink tons of fluids. On the latter point I have tried to be really good about that, but I woke up with quite dry lips, so clearly I need to do even better. Overall the above was successful. It's bedtime and I feel good.
On a totally different topic, sunsets have been hard to catch here. Because it's the rainy season, it is often overcast, if not actually raining, when the sun sets. In any case, I did manage to get a few pics of the lagoon, which I think are pretty.
There are tons of fishing boats here. This is a closer view of the above and is only a fraction of how many boats are actually in the lagoon. You'll notice that they are not exactly small.
When I was looking for a place to sit to watch the sunset, something large scuttled away from my feet. I looked down and saw a huge crab the size of my outstretched hand. He hung out for a few minutes, then scurried to my right in the direction of the sunset.
After the sun set, I looked to the left. I was amazed to see hoards of crabs right there. I could easily have gathered a bunch up while only getting barely wet. I think the picture below is kind of cool and kind of creepy. I know these are crabs because I was there, but they really looked like tarantulas.
If your into a bit of a sail on the lagoon, check in with the folks at the far end of the MIR. They teach young people life skills, as well as how to build and sail the traditional out-riggers. My wife and I traded with childcare and took turns going out with some of the students. It was one of the highlights of my trip.
